Detours. Faith. Fear. And Courage. - Acts, Chapter 28. October 01, 2015

Let it be known to you that this salvation of God has been sent to the Gentiles: they will listen - Acts 28:28
Reflection Question:
NO matter where Paul went or was taken, he shared his testimony and allowed God to work through him.
Are you living a surrendered life? How can you allow God to work through you today?
I seek and pray for a heart and desire like Paul, no matter where he went he preached the kingdom of God, and through those things which concerned the Lord Jesus Christ, with ALL CONFIDENCE” (vs 31)
Reading the timeline of when Paul departed from Caesarea to when he finally arrives in Rome is incredible. Talk about an epic detour. Yet they end up on an island and Paul gets to witness and heal these people who would not have heard about Jesus, otherwise.
It makes me wonder about my detours and how shaken up I get when I am thrown off “my course” but am I really? No, my course is to share Jesus, however and wherever.
How often have we been bitten by the viper? How many times has the enemy jumped out of the pit and attacked us. So brutally that those around us think maybe we won’t get past it. Or we shouldn’t get passed it.
How many times have those situations then allowed us to share Jesus in ways we would not have done so before?
Do we dwell on the fact that we got bit? Or do we shout out that our God is greater then the attacks of the enemy and nothing can prevent us for living out our calling?!
When the viper bit, SHAKE IT OFF and share the Lord!!
I have been getting bit a lot, ladies. A LOT!
Paul was still a man. A man lead by the Holy Spirit but still flesh and blood, like you and me. It gave me hope to read in verse 15 that “Paul took courage” I read that and think that there must be times when Paul was like “what on earth are you doing Lord?”. My daily question.
But when he arrived he thanked God and took courage. Learning then that no letters were sent out of Judea concerning Paul. BUT (vs 22) they DESIRED to hear what Paul had to share.
vs 23 - “And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to home he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.
vs 24 - “And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not.”
God had promised Paul that he would speak in Rome. And here he is, years later, crazy situation and crazy situation. But never-the-less, Paul shared Jesus Christ. First to the Jew and then to the Gentile.
My question for myself is really, how strong is my faith in Gods promises?
If God can use Paul, He can certainly use me. Will I allow my faith to be bigger then my fear? That is a moment by moment choice that I need to make.
