• Lord, Set My Soul On FIRE.

“My soul is crushed with grief to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.”
    Matthew 26:38 (NLT)

Jesus said this to Peter, James, and John at the garden of Gethsemane. Shortly there after, He went before God and asked if there was any way that the cup could pass from Him. He did this not once, but three time. Each time also saying, “yet I want Your will to be done, not mine.” In between each prayer He would go and check on His closest of close friends, HIs inner circle, the three men that He asked to keep watch over Him and be praying. Each time, they were asleep. In verse 41 Jesus said this to them,
“keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation.

Luke tells us in chapter 22:43 that an Angel of the Lord appeared and strengthen Jesus. We read on that through the whole BRUTAL way to the cross, Jesus did not break. He finished what He had set out to do.
SO I WONDER - Would Jesus have needed to pray the second and third time, had James, John, and Peter watched over and prayed for Jesus, as He had asked?
How often are we grieved, our souls totally crushed? Sometimes we don’t even know where it is coming from. You can be on the mountain top and BAM you end up in the valley.
Are we going going to give in to the flesh or are we going to starve the flesh and feed the spirit, growing stronger in our faith and finding PRAISE in the valley?!

    Jesus conquered death.
It has NO hold on us!!
We CAN and most certainly WILL be grieved to the extreme.
ESPECIALLY if we are making it our mission to serve the Lord. But that sorrow is only for a moment and when we fix our eyes on the cross, when we study His word, we see that there is JOY in the SORROW. I share this because I am in that valley and my heart is so grieved and hurting.
But I REFUSE! REFUSE to be too tired to pray!! I REFUSE to wallow in this TEMPORARY situation. Because of that, the Lord gave me this segment of scripture today and I want to pass on the message to you.
Please join me in finding joy in the sorrow.

Please join me in being a SOUL ON FIRE.

  • ...but I'm a mess!

Peter was essentially Jesus’ best friend. One of three to always be with the Lord. When Jesus met Peter, He renamed him. Jesus knew what a brute, stubborn, hard headed man Peter was. That did not stop Jesus. Nor did Jesus try to change Peter. He knew that Peter would mature in his timing, which lined up perfectly with God’s timing. We may look at Peter and be like “Seriously, dude?!” He had the faith to walk on water. But I can’t help and wonder if part of him stepping out was to be a show off. We know that he had a tendency to compare himself to the others. The story of Peter walking on water has delivered me through many storms:
Regardless of Peters motives, we know that Jesus already knew how it would play out. Jesus also knew that 2k+ years later, there would be a Jena who would hear this story in Jr. High and it would be something that molded her into the Godly woman she would one day become. (Yep, I just spoke in the 3rd person, need coffee!) Peter argued with Jesus that there was no way he would deny Him...Peter fell asleep when Jesus asked him more than once to be watching and praying over Jesus.

Peter cut off the soldiers ear after Jesus had already told him what was to come...Peter must have though that he single handedly would intervene and deliver Jesus. Not realizing that Jesus was there to deliver him! (And you. And me.) And then Peter denied Christ THREE times.
Mark 16:15, just before Jesus’ ascension into Heaven, He commanded His disciples to go into all the world and share the gospel. And that is EXACTLY what Peter did.

We all share the same calling, we just wear it differently. And so I am extremely excited to see what the Lord does with our willing and eager hearts. I can tell you I am sure my Pastor had no idea that sharing the 5% poll two weeks ago would plant a seed in my heart to go and call us all out, in the name of Jesus. We don’t know how the Lord can be reaching others through our words, our hearts to serve, or boldness to proclaim that JESUS saves.

But what I know is that when we submit ourselves to His calling, immerse ourselves in His promises, and truly understand that on our own we are all a bunch of HOT MESSES…it is then that He takes and does mighty things through us for Him. Whether we see/know it or not. PLANT THEM SEEDS!! INCREASE THE 5!! Understand that you are never going to be perfect here on earth, so -

  • Faith > Fear (Part Two)

    What is holding you back?
Is it fear of rejection, failure, messing up, embarrassing yourself, what people will think, say, do?
What form of fear holds you back from diving into Jesus' arms?

Every form of fear is really a tool to strengthen your faith.
Each fear you conquer fuels your faith fire ? setting that flame a blazing, consuming everyone around you, leaving an impact, whether you mean to or not.
Do you really want to contain that? Do you really want to say, "no, sorry, I don't want to offend anyone. No, sorry, I'm too flawed. No, sorry, I'm good keeping my beliefs where no one can mock or scorn me."

No matter what you do, your fears are going to manifest in other ways. You are still going to be judged, mocked, rejected, etc.
    We are all human.
So why not endure those things to BUILD UP THE KINGDOM?!
Let the mockers come. God knows your heart and theirs.
    Let the chains fall.

    In His joy,

  • C A L L E D. Hello Romans.

The Good News is about his Son. In his earthly life he was born into King David’s family line, and he was shown to be the Son of God when he was raised from the dead by the power of the Holy Spirit. His is Jesus Christ our Lord. Through Christ, God has given us the privilege and authority as apostles to tell Gentiles everywhere what God has done for them, so that they will believe and obey him, bring GLORY to his name.
    Romans 1:3-5
I stinking love the words PRIVILEGE and AUTHORITY. We have the privilege to live out our story of grace and tell others so that they can be set free. We have the authority to share about God, his love, forgiveness, and the hope that comes with a personal relationship with the Son of God.
    How stinking awesome!!
v 6 - …and YOU are called among those Gentiles.
I wish I had an emoji on my computer. I wanna lift up my hands and shout YES!!! I AM CALLED!!! YOU ARE CALLED!!!
v 7 - we are LOVED by God, we are CALLED to be his own holy people, he WILL give us grace and peace.
This message needs to be shouted out from the roof tops. I was talking to someone the other day and we were both in awe over how confident Satan is. That has been something very heavy on my heart lately. Satan thinks he’s got this. He tempted Jesus, obviously he thinks he’s pretty mighty. And the way the world is going, you would definitely think that he was winning. BUT! BUT! We know that the battle is already won. Amen?! So my question is, what are we doing to ensure that there are as many lives as possible on the winning side? We can do nothing without Christ. Christ has given us the authority, He has given us a calling. What are we doing with it?
vs 8 Paul thanks the Romans because their faith is being talked about ALL OVER THE WORLD.
Who is fired up right now?! Me! Me! Let's PLANT THEM SEEDS world wide. Starting in our own back yards.
vs 9 Paul is in constant prayer to the God he serves with all his heart.
Constant is pretty much non-stop. Can we say the same? I talked to myself all the time. It goes with that whole introvert, no friends, imaginary friend, childhood thing. CRAZY PERSON!! But lucky me, the habit was formed and now instead of talking to me, I am talking to Him and He has always been listening but now I am saying something with purpose, directed to the God who hears and sees ALL, and still loves me. Prayer isn't for right before bed or right when you wake up. He wants to hear from us all the time!

"For I am not ashamed of the Good News, about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes - the Jew first and also the Gentile. This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life.” Romans 1:16-17
